The Albany Devils professional ice hockey team took over as the capital city favorite ice team when the Albany River Rats folded in 2010. University of Albany Great Danes
The Great Danes are the intercollegiate athletic program at the University of Albany. The program sports 19 teams made up of 8 men's and 11 women's division one level teams. Football and basketball dominate the lineup, and games are played at University Field and SEFCU Arena.
